For a while now I’ve been thinking about redesigning this site to make it look more modern and a bit easier to update, and to make it more flexible when I’m making changes.
I decided to develop a bespoke Content Management System to help me with updating issues and I think it was worth it.
Custom CMS has many advantages over "out of the box" solutions, just to name a few:
- no limitations when it comes to graphic design
- CMS includes only what is required and nothing but that
- CMS can be extended with enything I'll need in the future
- SEO, Search Engine Optimization
- no licences
